Sometimes the water has a faint orange color. Why?

The color is usually caused by rust and happens most often in spring and fall. In the spring, Utility workers flush the water mains to clear them of sediments, causing some rust to appear at the tap. A water main break, use of a fire hydrant or heavy lawn watering also can stir up sediment in the water mains. If you see rusty water, let the cold tap run until the water clears, usually 10-20 minutes. If it does not clear, call (970) 221-6700.
