Student athletes are subject to the same code of conduct as all other students at the university and they are subject to the same set of disciplinary procedures. However, in addition to the standards set by the university there are often additional standards that student athletes must comply with in terms of NCAA requirements as well as team rules in order to remain eligible to compete in their sport. For instance, the university sets minimum GPA standards that students must meet each semester that they are enrolled in order to not be placed on academic probation or to be dismissed by the university. In addition to this requirement student athletes are required to have met certain course credit requirements to ensure that they are making progress toward completion of their degree.
