Teaching salaries in Farmington are low compared to metro districts. Could some of the money for StudentProfiler have been used for teacher salaries?
StudentProfiler was paid for out of various grant monies, dedicated graduation standards software tracking funds and other technology funds. None of the funds used for StudentProfiler could have been directed toward teacher salaries. Also, StudentProfiler was a one-time cost. Teacher salaries are on-going costs and must be paid for out of the general fund 01 budget. StudentProfiler did not negatively impact the district’s 01 fund balance, all expenditures were handled within established budgets. I’ve been told that money for StudentProfiler was mismanaged. The UnitMaker-SKIM-StudentProfiler database development effort spans the tenures of 3 business managers, 3 curriculum directors, and 3 superintendents and the technology director, all of whom were directly involved in the authorization of the database projects and approval of expenditures. All funds were handled appropriately.
