Teflon, why use it on trico wiper blades?
INTRODUCTION Teflon, which is also called Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a plastic that many people don’t know that they use. This product is used for coating pots, pans, acts as a stain repellent, and of course is used to coat wiper blades. WHO INVENTED IT Dr. Roy J Plunkett, from New Carlisle, Ohio, was born June 26, 1910 and died May 12,1994. He got his B.A.in chemistry and later a PH.D. He was hired by the DuPont company in 1936 and retired in 1975. HISTORY OF PTFE The discovery was made April 6, 1938 when Dr. Plunkett was working in Deepwater, New Jersy. It was mostly luck the way He found it. He was checking up on a frozen compressed sample of tetrafluoroethylene which had polymerized into a white, waxy solid to form (PTFE). Dr. Plunkett was recognized around the world and was inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame.
