The years from 2001 to 2007, when republicans had Congress and the White House, the national debt doubled from $5 trillion to $10 trillion. Over those 30 years, conservatives got everything they wanted. Liberalism was nowhere to be found. Tax cuts, welfare reform, enormous defense buildups, wars. There was talk of “A New Conservative Century”, “The Permanent Republican Majority”. From all the promises made by conservatives, we should be simply swimming in cash with full employment. What went wrong? Now, with the country in ruins, your kind wants to pretend you weren’t behind the wheel.
