The acer timeline comes with either a intel solo or duo processor. Which is better?
You’re into basic computing and if you’re looking for a processor that can provide amply for that, you need a Solo (Centrino I assume?). As said above, the Core Duo is two cores that provide nearly twice the power that a core can provide. The Solo is, as it name suggests, a single processor of normal power, BUT it has incredible battery life. Core Duo laptops rarely last for more than 3 hours if not 2. The Solo is optimized for battery life and since you won’t be using power-hungry applications, your laptop could last for a maximum of 8 hours. All in all, you should go for the Solo. It’s much better for the tasks that you will be doing on your laptop.
