The dark blue colour filter I am using in my Arena Fresnels burns out very quickly. What can I do?
Dark blue medium generally transmits 1-5 % of the light from a Halogen source, the remainder is stopped by the medium and it is this energy which causes the filter to burn out. To reduce the problem, try the following: use only a high temperature gel such as Rosco or Lee, use a slightly lighter shade of blue, narrow the focus, shifting the lamp away from the filter, decrease the intensity slightly.
