Yes, the district needs additional funding for career and technical education. Every year the percentage of students attending the Career Center decreases. When we had an enrollment of 350 students, any student who signed up for technical education classes at the career center was allowed to attend. MHS averaged between 50 and 60 students at the Career Center. Presently, with an enrollment of 630 students, the Manteno School Board has capped the Career Center participation at only 65 students. MHS turns down an average of 25 requests each year from students who would have benefited from the Career Center programs.
