The By-law allows such works to be completed by the Town, with the owner cost sharing in the project’s cost over a period of time. Determination of the owner’s cost is based on an assessment of the cost of the work being done to the portion of the street or right of way directly abutting the owner’s property. The municipality then charges the affected property owner a separate annual tax to cover their portion of costs. Normally the property owner pays 75% of the total cost, and the Town pays the balance. Applications are available at the Town Office.
