This is the first question many people ask us; “How are you different from the rest?”. While Renth does generally fall into the category of ‘Fantasy RPG’, we certainly don’t enjoy the label of “fantasy” when it is considered in today’s perspective. Fantasy is a broad term for anything otherworldly. However, many people today instantly think of several things when asked to describe the term “fantasy”: Elves, Dwarves, Paladins and Rogues, Minotaurs, Centaurs and man-beasts of every sort. Knights wearing ridiculously impractical armor, wielding laughably large weapons, and women wearing armor that is better suited for street-walking than battle. While this may seem like a rather harsh assessment, it is sadly only too true in many of today’s alleged “fantasy” games. The founding fathers of fantasy literature surely never intended for this to become the perception of their genre, and we don’t intend to uphold the stereotype.
