The first year: another year of cramming and written exams?
No. We are aware that, after four long years, the last thing students want is yet another “opportunity” to cram material and regurgitate it in exam papers. The three main CCA lecture courses in the first year will be very different from the familiar format: they will comprise part lectures, part independent and supervised work in small teams, and part presentations by students, with light-touch continuous assessment. Students will also be expected to take a small number of Part III courses tailored to their own needs, but, instead of taking written Part III exams, they will be assessed orally.
