The force feedback in NFS Porsche Unleashed is really weak in Windows ME, why is that?

Although we have not been able to reproduce this problem on any of our test systems, the problem seems to be with how NFSPU reports force feedback effects to the wheel. We suspect that some motherboard/USB combinations somehow weaken the force effects. Sometimes using the Serial connection increases the forces.
