The McCann case: Should the UK government take the lead in debating what constitutes responsible parenting?

The British government does not need to “take the lead in debating what constitutes responsible parenting” as this is already enacted in statute – the Childrens Act [1989 ], the Childrens and Young Persons Act [1933] and Article 24 (1) [Rights of the Child] Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union embodied within our own Human Rights Act 1998. The latter two are particularly relevant here in terms of the McCanns The legislation is already in place.. it is simply the case that no-one wishes to apply it when it comes to the McCanns. ———————- ADDITIONAL: God, I just love Lesroys’s responses…… fricking genius..!!!

If ever there was a time for the Government to look at parenting skills from all walks of life its is now and long overdue. I am no perfectionist, I am a single working mother myself who has never left her babies to go drinking in the pub not 20 yards from my front door. If your child comes to harm whilst in your care then the blame l

Yes, there should be a debate about responsible parenting. Sadly, there probably won’t be one because the UK couldn’t care less about children and thinks you can treat them whatever way you like, when you can’t. By the way, Piltdown Man, the anti-McCann lobby aren’t driven by “class envy” but by anger at their immaturity and irresponsibility. Sounds like you’re the one who’s got class envy. Please wise up.
