Phase 1 is the 9 week didactic portion of the 68D program. It provides the students with an introduction to the principles of Operating Room (OR) and Central Materiel Services (CMS). It is designed to give the students fundamental knowledge and to teach them the skills that will allow them to progress to Phase 2; the clinical portion of the 68D Program. Teaching strategies used in Phase 1 include didactic instructions, demonstrations and hands-on practical exercises. Examination (written and practical) based on learning objectives are used as a means to measure the level of student achievement. Phase 2 is the 10 week clinical portion of the 68D program. This clinical period is designed to allow the 68D student to apply the knowledge and skills learned in Phase 1; to practice and refine those skills. Phase 2 also gives the student the opportunity to acquire the additional skills required of an entry level Operating Room Technologist. This is the portion of the 68D Program where students
