The use and misuse of Employee Feedback/Opinion Surveys: How can we do better?
Employee Opinion Surveys have been with us for decades. They provide a useful diagnostic tool to assess employee perceptions about the organization and therefore provide an opportunity to more aptly assess the culture of the organization from the aggregate of the participating employees. As an example, when you ask individuals to highlight their “home” department, questions about supervision will provide insight about the management style of the supervisor or manager. This provides another useful piece of information for the performance review of the supervisor or manager. But there are potential minefields associated with Opinion surveys. In this seminar we enumerate a number of these. We also take a look at the potential application of the information and of course the invariable feedback sessions, which if not properly managed create false promises and irreparable damage.
