Liability insurance typically only pays for injuries or damages caused by the insured's (pet sitter's) negligence or the negligent act of the insured's employees or independent contractors. However, the veterinarian expense coverage provides coverage regardless of negligence on the part of the pet sitter. If an animal in your care is accidentally injured, PSA will pay up to $1000 per occurrence and up to $5000 annually regardless of pet sitter negligence. If the costs exceed these amounts, there would potentially be coverage up to $10,000 per occurrence and $25,000 annually from the loss of a pet in your care portion of the policy, but there would need to be some negligence on the part of the pet sitter for this coverage to come into play.
