Twitter and La Russa Settle Lawsuit; Who’ll Sue Next?
Well, that was quick. Two days ago we reported that St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa was suing Twitter for unspecified damages after he became aware of a Twitter user cybersquatting on the @tonylarussa name. According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the two sides have come to an agreement and settled. TwitterTwitter will most likely pay damages in the form of La Russa’s legal fees, and perhaps make a donation to the baseball manager’s charity and animal shelter, the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). The suit was being handled by ARF’s president, Gregory L. McCoy, who also happens to be La Russa’s family attorney. “The biggest misconception … was that it was about somebody using Twitter to be critical of me,” La Russa told the Post Dispatch. “I have plenty of critics. You can’t sue everybody who is criticizing you. That seemed like the perception that I or we were upset with the criticism.
