Was Barack Obamas speach in Berlin the best political speech you have ever heard?

Close, but no cigar. It was before I was born, but JFK’s speech at Rice University in 1962 is the one that gives me goose bumps: “…We choose to go to the moon…we choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things. Not because they are easy but because they are hard…” In fact it gives me goose bumps just remembering the words. Others? Well you’ve got Dr Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech and Winston Churchill’s “We will never surrender” to name but two. Barack Obama certainly speaks well. But it’s one thing setting out a vision, and quite another for that vision to be brought to fruition. At the moment he is just a candidate. *IF* Obama wins, and *IF* he delivers, then history may come to regard it as a landmark speech. But if McCain wins instead, then – as good as it was – Obama’s Berlin address will be forgotten in the midsts of time. If you haven’t heard JFK’s speech before, you can download an mp3 of it at the link below. Fast forward it to 8mins 38secs
