Was Guilford Dudley a king consort or a prince consort?
He was a son of the Duke of Northumberland, who had plotted to put Jane on the throne in the hope of ruling through her husband. Jane, in her very brief reign, refused to make him King. She would make him a Duke (of Clarence), but not a King. So he was neither. Apparently he became quite tearful at this.
