Was Medora Leigh Byrons illegitimate daughter?
Augusta Mary Byron Leigh, was the wife of her cousin, Colonel George Leigh. She was Byron’s older half sister, as her mother had died and their father remarried. Her husband’s mother, Frances Byron Leigh had been very close to her brother, Jack Byron, the poet’s father. It has been argued that they had had an earlier incestuous relationship, but it is unlikely that Byron, his sister or her husband knew about it, if it had occurred.
