Ricky Hatton was the product of poor management. Ricky established the credibility that he enjoys because he discarded Frankie Warren and struck out on his own. Ricky took on Mayweather and Pacquiao because he took the risks needed to establish true greatness. The fact that Ricky lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao is secondary to the creditability that Ricky took the shot. Warren never would have risked Ricky’s unbeaten record against Mayweather and Pacquiao, Frankie would have made more money off Ricky’s career by milking the record against mediocre opponents than risking Ricky’s record against the best in the business. Ricky Hatton broke from Frankie Warren and fought Floyd and Manny because Ricky wanted to test himself against the best in the business. Hatton gained more creditability in his losses than he did in his wins because he showed a true desire to be the best. The best thing Ricky Hatton ever did was break from Frankie Warren.
