I would say both success because it enabled Egypt to control water levels, economize water and produce electricity. Success because it made it possible to build cities without tsunamis destroying them and success because agriculture grew in Egypt since water was used more wisely ( 30 % of Egypt’s economy today is based on agriculture ) Failure because it is almost the only source for power in Egypt, we’re so dependent on the Aswan dam ( we were an easy target for the enemies we had at that time such as Israel, Britain and the US ( thank god we are allies today = ) ). Failure because the old tsunamis, believe it or not had an advantage and that is making lands more fresh and easier to use for planting whatever we wanted, in present time, lands grew old, and are not renewed by the Nile water…another problem we’re facing is the Nile’s end in Egypt.
