American household income has gradually increased over time simply because of the fact that there are more labor laws these days and more organized unions for workers rights, but what we can say is that the income gap has definitely widened and products and services from private corporations are much more expensive (especially health care) so household income may be higher than it used to be, but we’re spending more than we need to. The rich are getting richer (top 1%) while the rest of us suffer. Corporate America dictates the government, we live under an oligarchy.
