The No. 3 Buckeyes patched together the victory with Heisman Trophy candidate Wells hobbled by a right big toe injury, instead watching the game from the sideline while perched atop a bench. Wells and the rest of the sellout crowd at Ohio Stadium saw OU claw to a 7-6 halftime lead, the Bobcats’ offense led by quarterback Boo Jackson, who replaced starter Theo Scott after he left in the first quarter with a left shoulder injury. Most of the crowd then sat stunned when Ohio grabbed a 14-6 lead with 8:58 left in the third quarter.
