Was the wizard in the wizard of Oz the first real world character* to have a virtual persona?
Satan/Devil. My reason for believing this is based on the teachings of Christianity. Satan/Devil took on many manifestations, one of which was to speak through a serpent to Eve, in the Garden of Eden. Thus “seducing her into disobeying God’s commands” and suffering the consequences by she and Adam being cast out of the Garden of Eden. 003:013 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 003:014 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: Satan/Devil tempted Jesus Christ during Christs’ 40 days alone wandering the desert.
