HEA policies cover HEA staff and volunteers. A tutor is neither a volunteer nor a staff member and as such is probably viewed as a contractor to the HEA. A contractor would not be covered by HEA insurance. They should have their own Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Personal Accident/Income Protection policies. If a member of the public sues a Tutor for personal injury then, I would expect either our Insurer to defend the action on HEA’s behalf or, pay the action and then seek immediate legal recovery off the Tutor (only if a contractor).
