If you are unable to find an empty grommet, you can sometimes run your wire alongside a factory wire bundle. Use a scratch awl (or icepick) to start a small hole close to but not touching the existing bundle. Then use a straightened out wire coat hangar or some other solid wire to pull the power wire through to underneath the dash. Make sure that there is enough room alongside the existing wire bundle. I’d recommend browsing one of the vehicle specific forums. Many times you will find that someone has done exactly what you need to do with your specific vehicle and has posted a step-by-step procedure complete with photos. Try this one first: Search “firewall” “power wire” and “amp install” http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com/forum… After browsing the forums, if you are still unable to find a route through the firewall, you can always drill the firewall itself and install your own grommet.
