they were made of wool and they were very uncomfortable but hard wearing the overcoats were Great i was on duty in germany and got wet and the Overcoat was saturated and froze i was relieved 2 hrs on and 4 off and my Overcoat stood up all by its self until it thawed out we would shave the inside of the battledress so it was more compfortable and i got used to wearing long sleeved T shirts and some Guys would were feamale spencers and i must admit it was intresting so see Guys in winter wearing stockings but at – 20 degrees doing gauard duty You needed to be in some compfort
