What abdominal exercise is sport specific?
well crunches are good no matter what sport you do, its true, theres pretty much no downside in sports to having abs. Even in sports that rely less on conditioning like fencing, are given an edge with abdominals. for soccer though, lower abdominal workouts are very good because they improve speed maintainence (the amount of time you can hold top speed). you should be able to find plenty online, just do whatever works best for you. as for the medicine ball throws for football, good question, the answer is that football players are typically looking for more mass, and more mass requires more intensity. Throwing and catching a medicine ball, while doing sittups, is an example of increasing the force required by your abs in order to lift up your body (lifting your weight in addition to the medicine ball obviously required a little more force than just your own body weight). This increased intensity allows them to build more mass while still getting in an ab workout.
