Between the months of April and October when blue green algae is prevalent, the Environmental and Consumer Protection Division, the Countryside Rangers Service and other environmental agencies regularly monitor bodies of water prone to blue green algae formation by way of sampling and visual checks. If found in significant concentrations,the owners of the water body are responsible for erecting signs and posters to warn the public that it is present and is a potential hazard.
