What actually are the real symptoms of toxoplasmosis?

Answer Since your IgM is negative for toxoplasmosis, you have nothing to worry about. You cannot pass on toxoplasmosis to anyone. The positive IgG merely indicates that you were exposed to toxoplasmosis in the past. It may have been within the last year or many years before. Once the IgG is positive, it is always positive. It will not cause you to be ill in the future nor will you infect your baby. Humans can acquire toxoplasmosis through contact with cat feces or by ingesting of improperly cooked meat. Approximately 1/3 of women in the U.S. have IgG antibodies to toxoplasmosis. As long as your IgM was negative, you have nothing to worry about. It is impossible to tell where you were exposed. It is possible that you pick up some spores in some undercooked food at one time in your life. There is no way to tell. Don’t worry about it. Because it causes so much anxiety, we usually do not test pregnant women unless they show signs of disease or have contact with cats.
