What age do dogs start menstruation?
They normally go into season between the ages of 6-12 months, but it can start earlier or later than this. They may go off their food and be a little moody, their vulva will swell and a small amount of blood stained fluid will be lost, ( the amount varies in each dog ), the season will last around 3 wks, you should make sure she is supervised at all times when near other dogs, to ensure she doesn’t have an unplanned pregnancy. If she is not spayed she will go into season around every 6 months. With my Chocolate Lab it is 7-8 months, they all vary.
