I agree with Tomatoman on this one. ALL alcohol has the same amount of calories. What makes the difference is the volume of liquid in which that alcohol is dissipated. A 6 oz glass of wine has roughly the same alcohol content as a one ounce shot of 40% (80 proof) liquor, no matter what kind be it gin, vodka, rum or whiskey. If you want to be able to drink more VOLUME of drink, drink the wine. If you want the same buzz but you don’t mind taking one quick drink, take the shot. Really it depends on what you want. For social drinking, I recommend a low calorie beer. Beware, however, beer is loaded with carbohydrates which can turn themselves into fat in the body if taken in copious amounts.
