What are all the different types of abortion?
there are two main types of abortions. 1) Surgical abortions: in these cases, the product of conception (baby/fetus/whatever you choose to call it) is disposed of as medical waste. This is known as a D&C. A special machine literally “vacuums” the contents of the uterus out. 2) Medical, or pill abortions: in theses cases, the woman is given a set of pills that induce a miscarriage. The first pill causes the death of the fetus. A second pill or two, usually inserted into the vagina, causes the uterus to expell its contents. She generally passes the product of conception in her own home. She may not even realize when this actually occurs, as passing large clots of blood at this time is also common. There are also late term abortions which are often done for medical reasons, though not always. In these cases, women actually can be induced and give birth to the fetus, which is no longer living.
