What are basic proceedures for taking care of a good size lawn?
Answer Lawn care is really easy and grass is pretty forgiving. 3 basic steps are needed: mowing, watering and fertilizing. If you have not purchased a mower yet, look for a mulching mower. A mulching mower is one which takes grass clippings and chop them up in tiny pieces and deposit them back to the lawn again. This chopped up grass is very beneficial to the grass. This is known as re-cycling clippings to the lawn. When you mow your grass, mow it at a height of 2.5-3.5″ tall (meassured after a cut). Use a ruler the first time and then note where you mower deck should stay. Then just keep mowing at this same height from spring through fall (no need to adjust it at any time). A common mistake is to mow too low. Do make sure you are cutting the grass at least 2.5″ tall. A lawn must be fertilized 2-3 times annually.
