What are Bettas favourite food?
Bettas naturally eat Mosquito larvae found in the shallow rice paddies in Asia, but you’re probably thinking, “I didn’t recall seeing mosquito larvae sold at Wal Mart.” Actually, you may have. “Blood worms” are mosquito larvae. This is their most natural food source. You can buy them Freeze dried, frozen, or, most unsafe, live (NOT Recommended, they may have diseases or parasites.) As you don’t usually buy a Betta wild from a shallow pond in Asia, most of them have been, and will usually for life, eat floating pellets or flakes. In fact, this is so reimbursed, that many bettas that I have will not even touch blood worms, or other frozen or freeze dried foods. So, it really comes down to what they’ve been fed previously, where you got them. If you want to give your betta a choice, try to give him pellets (Recommending Hikari Bio-Gold), flakes, and then Blood worms, and see what he picks, or recognizes. Just make sure it’s floating food, as their upturned mouths cannot catch food that ha
