What are Championships and Best of the Rest?
At the end of each season, there are two additional opportunities for swimmers to compete: Suburban Swim League Championships take place the last Saturday in July. Each of the eight teams in the League takes a turn hosting Championships. This is an all-day event with older swimmers (12s, 14s, and Opens) swimming in the morning session, and younger swimmers (8s, 10s) swimming in the afternoon session. Championships include all events normally included in the regular meets, and there will be multiple heats of each event. Swimmers qualify based on their times for each stroke. This is a scored event, and the coaches will consult with the swimmers to determine line-ups, relays, and crescendos. The Best of the Rest Meet takes place at the Northampton indoor pool on the Wednesday before Championships. This is a long night, since it includes all teams swimming all events, so there will also be multiple heats of each event. The only exception is that there are no relays or crescendos included i
