City Happenings are activities, events and legacy projects taking place throughout Vancouver neighbourhoods in the time period leading up to and during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The Host a City Happening Program encourages the public to create Happenings that reflect the Olympic and Paralympic values of friendship, solidarity, peace, fair play, optimism, inspiration and empowerment. The Happenings also celebrate Vancouver’s cultural diversity while building community spirit and excitement about the upcoming Games. The program name identifies it as a City of Vancouver initiative that is related to the City’s hosting role for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
