If the exhaust of a diesel engine is smoking, there can be a few different things happening: • If smoke is white: diesel engine is UNDER Loaded which means that engine is TOO BIG for BHP required by Pump. • The exhaust is taking on too much moisture and it is smoking white because the moisture is evaporating. • If the engine is smoking black, the engine might be overloaded which basically means that the engine is too small or Max BHP of pump is bigger than Engine HP. Keep in mind that all engines are delivered with a preservative in the fuel lines and filters and that that preservative will make the engine smoke white also for an hour or two until all fuel with preservative has been used.
