What are Common Problems with the 4l60e Automatic Transmission?
While the 4l60e delivers strong power and reliability, some transmission problems may surface. Slipping can occur in any of the 4 gears due to worn out clutches or fluid leaks. Delayed shifting between gears can occur because of electrical problems like the powertrain control module (PCM). The driver may experience shudders because of low fluid pressure moving through the servos and valve body. The 4l60e uses solenoids. When they malfunction, the transmission may shift into improper gears or overheat the torque converter and require a solenoid replacement. A speed sensor problem can cause the transmission to lock in first gear and the speedometer to get stuck at 0 miles per hour.
