Composite second-order distortion (CSO) is the ratio of carrier to composite second-order distortion products. Both of these distortions result from multiple carriers experiencing second and third order non-linearity, which generate multiple distortion products. These products are measured as a group; thus the term composite distortion as opposed to discrete distortion.
