What are Cupcakes?
Cupcakes are mini cakes that range in size from mini (approximately 2 inches across) to classic size (3 inches) to jumbo (ranging up to 5 inches). Cupcakes are sweeter than muffins and are made from the same batters as cakes, including white and chocolate and also red velvet, devil’s food and strawberry cake, usually iced or frosted, then decorated. They have become quite the trend in bakeries, and are showing up everywhere, not just at children’s birthday parties anymore. Many bakeries across the country specialize in cupcakes instead of cakes and offer them for any function, including weddings. The great thing about cupcakes is the single serving they offer, as well as the charm of the decorations, from a simple frosting to sprinkles, flowers, designs – the only limit is the imagination.
