If radionuclides (radioisotopes) are released into the environment through accident, poor disposal or any other means, they are likely to harm the environment through means of radioactive contamination. They can also have harmful effects if they are excessively used during treatment, experiment or in other ways involving living beings. This is known as radiation poisioning. Radionuclides can also cause problems and malfunctions of electrical devices. more
