What are differences between slavery in the northern colonies and slavery in the southern colonies?

The northern colonies focused on industry, so they needed fewer slaves. Any slaves that did live in the north were mainly helping around the house by being a maid, driver, or midwife. The people in the north also could not afford slaves and thought they were too expensive. The southern colonies had many tobacco plantations. These plantations made the white owners very rich and so they could afford to have many slaves do the farm work.
