What are elementals?

Answer Hi Tiffany – The word ‘elementals’ is used in several different ways in Wicca. Since I’m not sure from your question exactly which one you’re asking about, I’m going to give you some general information. If you have more questions after that, feel free to ask! First, elementals generally refer to beings/creatures associated with the four elements commonly referred to in Wicca, and in some forms of ceremonial magic (among other places.) The four elements, as you may know, are earth, air, fire, and water. There are many kinds of beings sometimes associated with each elements, but the most commonly mentioned are gnomes for earth, sylphs for air, salamanders for fire, and undines for water. They each have shapes and qualities which are related to that element. Wiccans generally invite the presence of the elemental energies (which is not the same thing as the element itself!) as part of setting up a ritual circle. Some people also refer to this as ‘elemental energies’, or some relate
