What Are Emerging Markets?
The World Bank does not have list of emerging markets. The Emerging Markets database developed by the IFC was sold to Standard & Poors a few years ago and can be found here. The World Bank has always employed an objective classification of economies based on their GNI per capita (computed using the Atlas method). Use of this classification system does not imply a judgment concerning the development status of any country or territory. The World Bank’s classification of economies can be found here.
