What are enhanced objects ?
The ACS is interested in exploring various Web-based technologies that could enhance the way information in a research article is conveyed. Selected papers in the Web Edition may contain enhanced objects. These objects, while not essential to the understanding of the science, should help to complement a reader’s understanding of the research being reported. The types of objects suitable for this form of publication should be viewable with commonly available plug-ins or helper applications. Examples include color figures, animations, and chemical structures within the article posted on the Internet. With the appropriate plug-ins (e.g., Chime) or helper applications (e.g., WebLab Viewer, RasMol), you can view and manipulate these objects within the HTML file itself or in a separate window.
