What are examples of dramatic techniques?

Sound can enhance a scene if it is underscored with music…including an intense scene. Sound can also help to establish where the characters are, for example if they are on a street in a busy city you can have traffic sound effects. Lighting effects: Can help to establish the environment in which the characters are in, the time of day, etc. Day light, Evening, etc. Music can be used to establish the era in which the play takes place. Example if a play takes place in the 60’s you can use pre-show music with sixties artist like Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix…etc. I wouldn’t really consider dance a dramatic effect unless it is in a musical. Choreography could be used as dramatic effect in order to change or enhance a dance piece for a musical. Does that help?
