What are “first, second and third generation rights”?
First generation human rights were the first to be conceived by the United Nations, and were fundamentally political. The second generation of human rights is fundamentally social and economic. It gives people the right to be employed. The third generation of human rights is the rights of groups. This gives the individual the right to be part of a collective group.
