What are fissures and pits in Granite?
Granite, which is crystalline in structure, almost always has tiny pits (spaces between the various mineral crystals). Granite sometimes also has fissures, which are a result of the immense heat and pressure that formed the granite eons ago. These characteristics are part of the natural beauty of the stone and will not impair the durability and functionality of the stone. A product of nature cannot be expected to look manmade. Applying a sealer to the surface may minimize the appearance of such characteristics.
